Creating Art Inspired Poems with Fleda Brown
Saturday, October 19, 2013 9:30 – 12:30 - Register online
The workshop will begin with a few classic poems that respond to art. Then together, participants will closely examine one Art Park sculpture as a model for how to approach their work. After developing a model, participants will have time to write a first draft. The workshop will end by sharing the hot-off-the-press drafts.
This workshop was inspired by a collaborative exhibit by Fleda Brown and Michigan Legacy Art Park artist Bill Allen that was displayed at the Dennos Museum Center in 2010. A video was made to describe and document their collaboration and how Fleda writes art-inspired poetry. Click here to watch ConTEXTure: A Conversation Between Artists in Two Forms.
Fee: $50 per adult
Youth, ages 12 to 17 who have a great interest in creative writing, are welcome to accompany a parent free of charge to the workshop.
Reservations are required before 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 18.
For questions, please call the Art Park office at (231) 378-4963 or send an email.

everything up in three dimensions.
