Michigan Legacy Art Park is a cultural, recreational and educational place that attracts and engages people of all ages and interests.  As with all great art, our works make a lasting impression and foster a deeper understanding of the world.

Learn more about Michigan's legacy through our activities and materials.

The Trail Guide lists each work of art with a short interpretive descriptions.

The Summer Sounds Concert Series takes place at the Park's outdoor natural amphitheatre and features a variety of musical genres by Michigan musicians.  Bring a lawn chair, blanket and picnic to these five performances!  Concerts begin at 7 p.m., and the cost is $8-adults, $5-children, and $20-families.

The Artist in Residence Program has had significant success in the past seven years.  Each year, Michigan Legacy Art Park Education Director, Patricia Innis, has spent time in classrooms at schools such as Traverse City Central Grade School, Frankfort Elementary, Brethren High School, and Mancelona Middle School.  Innis works with teachers to create hands-on curriculum based art projects that engage students.  Through this residency coupled with a fieldtrip to the Art Park, children see their textbooks spring to life.

Looking to Learn is a compilation of lesson plans and ideas for curriculum based activities for teachers to use in their classrooms before and after a fieldtrip to the Park.

Coasting the Baseline is a multi-site work that displays the historical significance of Michigan’s surveying methods.

Hemingway Haunts is an Artist in Residence program provided by Patricia Innis, Education Director.  It explores the life of Hemingway during his fishing trips to Northern Michigan and includes environmental art projects, reading, writing and Michigan geography and history.
