Art
You may sample the art found throughout the Michigan Legacy Art Park and gain a sense of how we express our mission and values by clicking on the names of the artists to the right.
However, only by visiting the park can you fully experience the exhilaration of discovering these impressive pieces in nature. In addition to the art pictured here, you will be able to tour Stockade Labyrinth by David Barr. Within its walls, you will find over two dozen pieces of art commemorating Michigan's ever-changing history. You will be able to walk the Big Two Hearted and reflect on portions Hemingway's short story that inspired it. The trail is also punctuated with poetry stones where you can pause to reflect on your experience.
The Art Park, like its environment, is constantly changing. As you like, you will find newly installed art and works in progress. A close look at the trees around you might reveal silhouette images if lumberjacks created by artist Patricia Innis. You may also notice artwork that is being reclaimed by nature. Discovery Grove, near the amphitheater is the Art Park’s educational activity center that exhibits art developed in partnership with area schools.
New art is added each year through a jury review process. Interested artists are encouraged to complete a proposal.
